Resale ticket prices are set by individual sellers, not the marketplace. Sellers list on different sites at different prices, and each site adds its own buyer fees at checkout. Most resale sites add buyer fees late in the checkout process — service fees, delivery fees, or both. These fees often aren’t shown on the initial listing and can add roughly 10–40% to the listed price, depending on the event, ticket price, and marketplace. Some sites (like TickPick) advertise no buyer fees and bake cost into the list price instead. Either way, the number that matters is the final total before you confirm payment.

There’s no single best time. Buying early locks in a price and guarantees you a seat if the event sells out; prices for in-demand events often rise as the date approaches. Waiting can sometimes pay off: sellers may lower prices close to the event to avoid being stuck with unsold tickets, especially for events with multiple dates or less demand. The tradeoff is that inventory can shrink and popular sections may sell out. If you’re flexible on section or date, waiting can save money; if you care about a specific seat or date, buying earlier is often safer.

Yes. High-demand events — playoffs, finals, one-night-only shows, or artists with few tour dates — tend to hold or increase in value. Events with multiple dates, larger venues, or weekday shows often see more price movement because supply is higher and demand is spread out. Sports playoffs and championship games, reunion tours, and limited runs usually have less price drop-off. For regular-season games or multi-night stands, you’re more likely to see prices adjust as the event nears.

Typically, upper-level or less central seats fluctuate more because there’s more supply and they’re easier to replace. Premium locations — lower bowl, aisle seats, floor sections — often hold value better, especially for popular events where those seats are scarce. If you’re willing to sit in the upper deck or a less ideal section, you’re more likely to find last-minute deals. If you want a specific premium spot, buying earlier is usually the safer bet.

Compare these before you buy: (1) Final checkout price — not the list price, but the total after all fees.
